Messy Learning

What if...

you didn’t wait until everything was neatly wrapped in pretty paper before you began?

For years, I’ve shared what I’ve learnt once I’d made sense of it all.

Once I’d found the lesson, selected my pretty paper, tied it up with a matching bow and felt reasonably certain I had the answers.

I’m trying something different; a small experiment if you will.

And, I’m inviting you into the messy middle with me.

It’s a little like walking through woodland without feeling the need to know exactly where the path will lead. That’s often where I finally notice what I’ve walked past before, was able to ask better questions, and realise that certainty can be a rather demanding travelling companion.

From time to time I’ll share a reflection, an experiment, or a question that has stopped me in my tracks. Some may resonate immediately. Others might sit uncomfortably with you for a while before revealing why they mattered.

If you’re someone who enjoys looking beneath the surface, is prepared to question your own thinking, and believes that growth is rarely a straight path, I’d love your company.

And, if the idea of messy anything brings you out in hives, fret not – I’ve got you. This kind of messy is joyful, as it’s an integral part of any worthwhile journey.

After all, every experiment worth committing to starts with a willingness to see what happens without attaching to the outcome.
